The Great Trapmore Years - "Sir" Steve Leaves ICBC

The time has come for ICBC to wave a very sad goodbye to its Head Coach, Steve Trapmore MBE. He joined the club in January 2008, and since then he has brought the club to the forefront of university rowing and leaves it as a high performance centre for British Rowing.

Admired and loved, his sudden departure will be acutely felt at Imperial. This loss to the club has been summed up by the ever-wise POD: “ICBC is my family, which makes Steve my pseudo-father/hero/inspirational, motivational and spiritual leader. This is a great loss to Duffaluffagus. Nobody can replace Trappers. He deserves the recognition he is getting and I wish him the very best, I'm just sorry we are losing a true legend”.

ICBC will rally and is eagerly awaiting the appointment of a new Head Coach. The squad is keen to build on the momentum generated by the past few years and to continue to “Kill, Maim and Destroy” the competition. Captain Danny Bellion knows “the growth of ICBC will continue; we have the athletes, the resources and the drive to embark on an even more successful future”.

Steve now moves on to the mint-green (or should that be blue?) pastures of Cambridge University Boat Club where he will start as Chief Coach in September. His in-depth knowledge of the Boat Race course from Putney to Mortlake must give Derek Rasmussen (CUBC Captain) something to smile about and this Tab knows the Light Blue Years are on their way!

Everyone from Imperial wishes him and his family all the best for this new chapter in their lives.
