The 2008 Committee

Erica Thompson - Captain

I noviced at Cambridge, where I rowed (and occasionally studied) for four years before moving to Imperial College in 2007 to start a PhD in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering. Imperial's reputation for rowing excellence of course played no part in my choice of academic institution. Highlights of the year for me have included Henley Women's Regatta, getting to Saturday at Henley Royal Regatta, winning the National Championships in E4x and coming third in the 2- at EUSA. I am looking forward to improving on these results next year!

Iain Palmer - Vice Captain

I began rowing as a novice at Imperial while studying Aeronautical Engineering. Highlights for me have included reaching a Henley Saturday and being selected for a crew that placed in the top 10 in the unofficial 2007 HORR. The coming year looks set to be a very successful one and I look forward to helping achieve that success!

Hannah Rouse - Secretary

Hi, I'm Hannah, the secretary of the boat club.  I am currently in my third year of studying Biochemistry at Imperial and my third year of rowing for the club.  Before coming to ICBC I had only rowed once a week when it was sunny, however on arrival I somehow ended up at the deep-end amongst the other rowers of the senior squad, and i haven't looked back.  My biggest highlight from last year was the women's head of the river race, where we came 23rd in a scratch eight.

Adam Seward - Treasurer

I'm studying for an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering after a gap year of working full time. I took up rowing at school, RGS High Wycombe, aged 13, where the emphasis was heavily on sculling over sweep-oared boats. I spent my final two years there as Captain of Boats.

Mackenzie Clavin - Kit Officer

I'm Mackenzie this years kit officer, I'm a second year undergrad at imperial studying biochemistry. I started rowing last year as a novice with IC and in spite of never having been in a rowing boat before joining I quickly caught the rowing bug. Never one to shy away from a challenge or a party I found a home away from home here at the boat club.
