Imperial College Boat Club has a experienced team of professional and volunteer coaches and staff to help you excel in rowing.

Peter Hardcastle

Head of Rowing

Peter joined Imperial in 2017 and was appointed Head of Rowing in 2018.  He represented Australia at the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic Games and then moved to the UK in 2008.  He coached at Dulwich College, Emmanuel School and London Rowing Club before joining Imperial and also coached the men's four at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2014.  In 2018, in his first season at Imperial, he coached the crew that won the Prince Albert Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.

Adam Berry

Assistant Coach

Adam joined Imperial at the start of the 2023 academic year. Quicly becoming an invaluable member of the coaching team.

Tessa Millar

Volunteer Coach

Tessa is an integral part of the coaching team and has volunteered her time to Imperial for the past 10 years, coaching at every water session each week.  
Tessa too has a strong rowing background behind her having represented Great Britain at the 1984 Olympic Games, two World Championships and World Cups. Tessa has had success coaching GB light weights, Thames RC women and Oxford University.

Hamzat Ahmed

Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach

Hamzat currently works as lead S&C coach for Imperial College and writes and coaches the programme to our entire senior squad. Hamzat works closely with the coaches to make sure each athlete has the correct individualised programme. Hamzat also manages High Performance sport scholarship programme across the whole of Imperial College.

Kyle Booth

Physiotherpist

Kyle has worked with Imperial College for the past couple of seasons and helps to keep our athletes up and running through the winter and summer racing season. Kyle also works in the NHS A&E and is an acute injury specialist.
